Dominican College women's basketball tops Post University, 67-53

Orangeburg, NY (12/1/10)  The Dominican College women's basketball team topped the visiting Eagles of Post University, 67-53, this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's basketball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.  With the win Dominican improves to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC.

Trailing 15-9 with 12:27 remaining in the first half, Dominican went on a an 8-0 spurt to take a 17-15 edge with just over nine minutes remaining before the break.  Tied at 27-all with 3:55 left in the first half, the Eagles outscored DC, 5-2, to take a 33-30 lead into the break.

Down 37-32 Dominican went on a 12-3 run to take a 44-40 edge and then went on to outscore Post 11-5 to build up a 55-45 lead and never looked back en route to the 67-53 victory.

Junior guard Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) led three Lady Chargers in double figures with 14 points and had six rebounds in the win.  Sophomores Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) netted 11 points, shooting 4-4 from the floor and 3-5 from the charity stripe, while Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) added 10 points and shot 4-8 from the floor off the bench.  Rookie KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) had a solid performance off the bench with eight points and a team leading eight caroms.

Dominican returns to action next Thursday when they travel to CACC opponent, Concordia College, for a 5pm game.
