Cougar Adventures Completes First Semester of Reading Days

COLUMBUS – Cougar Adventures ended this semester with a visit by Columbus State basketball and softball teams to St. Luke School, reading to Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms.  The St. Luke Eagle students were excited to see over 40 CSU student-athletes coming through the school doors to read to them during their packed Thanksgiving celebrations.

“We were excited to get the opportunity to visit St. Luke and spend time with the students there,” said softball head coach Brad Huskisson. “The kid’s we’re equally excited to see us and asked plenty of questions about playing sports in college.”

Cougar Adventures visited Eagle Ridge Academy, Wesley Heights Elementary, Allen Elementary and St. Luke School this semester and plan to visit Mathews Elementary, Forrest Road Elementary and Downtown Elementary at the beginning of 2011.  Student-athletes from the CSU women’s soccer team, men’s and women’s basketball team, men’s and women’s golf team, baseball team and softball team all participated in this semester’s expanding reading program.
