ERIE, Pa. – A.J. Milanak (Apollo, Pa. / Kiski Area) led all Gannon wrestlers by finishing second at the Cleveland State Open on Saturday. Milinak finished with a 4-1 record in the 141-pound class and was the only Golden Knight to place in the top six. Three of Milanak's wins came over Division I opponents.
A total of 16 Golden Knights competed in the event that featured several NCAA Division I opponets. Ten Golden Knights earned multiple wins and eight finished with a wining record.
In the 125-pound class Adam Weinell (Blairsville, Pa. / Blairsville) won three matches while Justin Rivera (Vineland, N.J. / St. Augustine Prep) earned a pair of wins.
Ethan Swope (Luthersburg, Pa. / DuBois Area) earned his team-leading 15th win of the season after finishing 3-2 in the 149-pound division. Mike Krysiak (Erie, Pa. / Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) and Adam Greenman (Port Allegany, Pa. / Port Allegany) eached recorded pins in the weight class.
Sean Floor (Westbrookville, N.Y. / Port Jervis) and Sam Brehm (Wexford, Pa. / Pine-Richland) each earned three wins in the 157-pound class.
Zack McKendree (Vandergrift, Pa. / Kiski Area) has 14 wins this season after picking up three while wrestling in the 165-pound class.
Bret Terry (Canal Winchester, Ohio / New Albany) earned three wins and one pin in the 174-pound class. Chris Boyd (Chase City, Va. / Randolph Henry) added three wins to his season total and earned two pins.
Gannon’s next action comes at the Ashland Duals on Friday, January 8.
