#9 Pitt-Johnstown Wrestlers Dominate #18 East Stroudsburg, 42-0

The Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers, ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II, used three falls and David Cawley's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) 9-4 upset victory over NCAA No. 4 Adam Hluschak to dominate No. 18 East Stroudsburg University, 42-0, Wednesday night in the Sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown, which won all 10 matches, improved to 3-0.
    
Pitt-Johnstown took control early and didn't look back.  Dave Fogle (Summerhill, Pa.) received a forfeit win at 125 lbs., and NCAA No. 3 Ryan Link (Cresson, Pa.) outscored Jordan Toledo 8-0 to erase a 3-1 second period deficit in a 9-3 victory at 133 lbs. to make it 9-0
    
David Cawley (Pittsburgh, Pa.), ranked No. 6 in the region, then used a pair of takedowns in the first period and reversals in the second and third periods to upset NCAA No. 4 and East Region No. 1 Adam Hluschak, 9-4, at 141 lbs.
    
The Mountain Cats tacked on 12 more points to their lead in the next two bouts.  East Region No. 5 Nathan Link (Cresson, Pa.) pinned Tyler Wilton at 4:21 at 149 lbs., and Joe Harper (Duncannon, Pa.) pinned Luke Grassi at 3:21 to build the lead to 24-0.
    
East Region No. 6 Gary Lantz (Delta, Pa.) then won a 6-5 decision over East Region No. 5 Thad Frick at 165 lbs., and Steve Makin (Portage, Pa.), ranked fourth in the region, used a third period escape to defeat Jeff Jacobs, 4-3 at 174 lbs. and push the lead to 30-0.
    
East Region No. 2 A.J. Brentzel (Irwin, Pa.) won 6-3 over James Gonzalez at 184 lbs., and Petros Georgilas (McKees Rocks, Pa.) scored a 4-3 decision over James Gonzalez at 197 lbs. before Chris Dempsey (Sewickley, Pa.), ranked No 6 in the country, sealed the 42-0 shutout with a fall over Will Weaver at 1:21.
  
With the loss, East Stroudsburg fell to 1-2.
  
The Mountain Cats will break for finals and the holiday season, before traveling to the Wilkes Open on December 28.  Pitt-Johnstown will begin the Spring Semester at home against Lake Erie (WV) College on January 7 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
