TURLOCK – The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team had a relatively easy time in their non-conference game against Cal Maritime Saturday night with a 100-46 win over the Keelhaulers.
Leading scorer Katie Busi recorded her 24th career double double with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Adding to Busi's totals Christin Gowan recorded 16 points, Theresa Henderson had 15 points, and Andreanna Marshall was perfect from the floor with 14 points. Gowan also had a career high with nine assists.
The 54-point win is the Warriors' largest margin of victory since defeating Cal State Monterey Bay, 90-34, to stat the 2000-01 season. This is also the team's first 100-point game since the 2003 NCAA regional game, a 116-106 overtime loss to Cal State Bakersfield. Additionally, it is also the first time the Warriors scored 100 points in a win since a 105-57 victory over Cal State L.A. on Dec. 19, 1988.
In the first half the Warriors had little trouble getting out of the gate cruising to an early 12 point lead on a Busi layup at 11:01. The lead ballooned to a 20-point advantage with under three minutes left to go on a Marshall jumper that made it 38-18.
The Warriors use a 23-8 run to start the second half for a 66-34 advantage after Gowan converted on a three-point play to lead the team to the blowout.
As a team the Warriors shot 57 percent for the game and out-rebounded Cal Maritime 56-26. Defensively the Warriors stuffed 10 blocked shots with Busi leading with four. Stanislaus also had 13 steals.
Cal Maritime's (0-4) leading scorer, Joyce Koloa, recorded 13 points. Crystal Clark chipped in eight points. Christina Dixon and Kelly Stephens each had 7 points.
Next, the Warriors will host Chico State on Saturday, Nov. 27 with a 2 p.m. tip-off at Fitzpatrick Arena.
