BOCA RATON – After splitting matches against Eckerd and Tampa last weekend, Lynn University’s volleyball team (19-8, 10-4 SSC) concludes the regular season with Sunshine State Conference foes Florida Tech and Saint Leo. The Fighting Knights take on the Panthers Tuesday, November 9 and the Lions on Friday, November 12. Both games are slated for 7 pm.
It was a historic weekend for the volleyball program as Lacy Redwine (New Braunfels, Texas) and head coach Lynze Roos reached notable individual milestones. Redwine broke the program’s record for career digs and Roos earned her 100th career victory in the win over Eckerd. Redwine now has 1,835 career digs and Roos is now 100-59 in her five seasons as a collegiate head coach.
Lynn is currently 19-8 overall with a 10-4 mark in the SSC. The ten wins, the last coming against Eckerd, is an all-time best for the Fighting Knights.
Florida Tech (10-19, 1-13 SSC) comes into the week having lost seven straight matches. The Panthers are led by Janelle Branch who is hitting .301 on the year with 221 kills to go with 107 total blocks. Frankie Brown, Shelby DeNeice and Caitlyn Ballweber are also solid on offense with over 200 kills apiece while Ashley Bryant is second in the SSC with 5.28 digs per set.
The Lions enter the week 13-14 overall and 7-7 in conference play after defeating Valdosta State and falling to West Florida at the South Region Crossover. Bruna Rocha and Celeste Bonter are the leading attackers and they are also 1-2 on the team I digs. Danielle Bletso and Kaitlyn McKenna play in the middle and lead the team in both blocks ad hitting percentage.
