UWF Moves Up to No. 2 in NCAA Regional Rankings

NCAA Selections to Be Announced Nov. 8

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In the final regular season NCAA Division II women’s soccer regional rankings, West Florida moved up to No. 2.  The top two seeds in the region will be eligible to host the first two rounds of NCAA regional play, and the Argonauts are fighting to be one of those two teams.

Rollins (6-2-2 in-region entering this week) is the top ranked team in the South Region, but the Tars lost on Tuesday in the Sunshine State Conference quarterfinals to Tampa, ranked No. 5 in the region.  The Argonauts (13-2) are ranked second, followed by No. 3 Florida Southern (7-4-2) and No. 4 Nova Southeastern (6-4-1).  No. 9 North Alabama (13-3) and No. 10 Harding (7-5-1) also represent the Gulf South Conference in this week’s rankings.

The Argonauts will have at least one, and possibly two, more regional contests this weekend at the GSC Tournament at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla.  UWF will face Harding in the tournament semifinals at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, and should the Argonauts win they would advance to Sunday’s championship match scheduled for 11 a.m.
