The HPU men’s basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the PacWest, announced during the PacWest Men’s Basketball media day.

Awa-Williams was an All-PacWest First-Team choice last year after finishing eighth in the conference in scoring. She averaged 12.4 points per game, ranked 11th in rebounding by pulling down 5.8 per contest, and shot 54.7% from the field, fourth best in the PacWest. She also averaged 2.6 assists (14th) per game.

Hopkins-Vandenakker finished ninth in scoring in the conference right behind Awa-Williams, averaging 11.9 points per game. She shot 43.9% from the field to rank 11th, and shot 75% from the free throw line. Her 0.6 blocks per game average was fourth best in the PacWest.

Votes for the predicted order of finish and the preseason all-conference team were cast by the head coaches or designated representatives of each Pacific West Conference institution.

The Lady Sea Warriors open the season on Saturday, November 13, against Adams State College. ASC is a preseason favorite to win the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after making an appearance in the 2009-10 NCAA Division II Regional Tournament. The two teams tip-off at 2:00 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

The HPU men open play also on November 13 in an exhibition match against Tianjin University from China. The game will be played at 5:00 p.m. in Laie, HI.
