Three Dominican Soccer Players Named to All-Conference Squad

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Dominican University of California women's soccer sophomore Julianna Bratsberg and men's soccer players sophomore Pedro Guevara and senior Alec Ziegler were named to the Pacific West Conference Soccer All-Conference Teams, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Bratsberg was a 2010 PacWest First Team Midfielder selection after redshirting in 2009 due to a hip injury, The Santa Rosa, Calif. native (Maria Carillo HS) came back strong in 2010, racking up a team-high seven goals in addition to three assists while starting in all 18 of Dominican's matches. Bratsberg led the PacWest in shots attempted, was third in shots per game, was seventh in points and points per game, sixth in goals, and tied for sixth in goals per game, and tied for fifth in total assists.

A PacWest Second Team member in 2009, Guevara earned a place on the 2010 First Team as a midfielder in his junior campaign. The Santa Rosa, Calif. native (Montgomery HS), posted a team-leading eight goals and four assists, was fifth in the PacWest in total shots and shots per game, tied for fourth in goals, points and goals per game, tied for fifth in points per game, and tied for tenth in assists.

Ziegler also made the list on the mens' side, earning an Honorable Mention. The Eureka, Calif. (Montgomery HS) native started all 18 games for the Penguins and tallied two goals and an assist. In 2009, Ziegler earned Second Team honors.

The Lady Penguins finished the season in sixth place in the PacWest while the Dominican men wrapped up their 2010 run in seventh place.
