Bloomsburg Field Hockey Team Downs Slippery Rock 3-1

SLIPPERY ROCK—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team scored three second half goals to rally for a 3-1 win over Slippery Rock on Tuesday.

Slippery Rock took an early lead just 2:03 into the game when Gabrielle Malishchak scored on an assist by Allie Hartman off a corner play. The shot was just one of two for the Rock in the opening half compared with 10 shots on goal for the Huskies who also held an 11-1 edge in penalty corners in the opening 35 minutes of play.

Bloomsburg, though, needed just 40 seconds of the second half to tie the score when Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top, Crestwood) scored on an Amanda Riley (Tannersville, Pocono Mountain East) assist. The Huskies took their first lead of the game at the 61:52 mark when Nicole Bruce (Dalton, Lackawanna Trail) scored with Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE, Sussex Technical) picking up the assist.

The Huskies then iced the game with an insurance goal in the 68th minute. On a corner play, after a save by Slippery Rock’s goalie, Ashley Miller (Shermans Dale, West Perry)deflected a Riley shot into the goal for a 3-1 advantage.

Bloomsburg’s defense was solid all afternoon limiting the Rock to just four shots on goal and just four penalty corner opportunities.

The Huskies, now 15-2, close out their regular season on Saturday hosting CW Post starting at 2 p.m.
