Sonoma State 90, Dominican 64

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting Sonoma State squad on Saturday night, suffering a 95-64 non-conference loss in the final night of the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic.

Dominican (0-2) scorerd first on a deflection by sophomore guard Mark Lewis to freshman guard Myles Carrillo, who found sophomore guard Ian Collins for the fast break. Dominican wouldn't see the lead again though. The Seawolves (2-0) couldn’t miss in the first half, going 18-of-26 (.692) from the field, including 7-of-11 (.636) from the three-point line. That, coupled with 15 points off turnovers, helped Sonoma State build a 49-29 halftime lead. They kept up the hot shooting in the second half and finished the game going 35-of-55 (.636) and 12-of-21 (.571) from deep.

Six players reached double digits for the Seawolves. Sophomore guard Will Olsem led the charge with 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting, all from behind the three-point line. All five Sonoma State starters also reached double digits and accounted for 49 points.

The Penguins were led by senior guard Adam Chavis' 12 points. Carrillo added 10 points, and senior guard Mike Wells added nine points in the loss. Sophomore center Killian Larson rounded out the top Dominican scorers with eight points.

Dominican next plays on Friday, November 26 when they face Humboldt State at 5:30 p.m. in the Carl's Jr. Mac Martin Tournament. The Penguins face host Chico State on Saturday, November 27 at 7:30 p.m.
