Saint Michael's Women's Basketball Loses First Game Of Season At #10 Franklin Pierce, 73-51

RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team (1-1, 1-1 Northeast-10 Conference) never led in suffering a 73-51 loss at 10th-ranked Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday.

Junior Coreen Hennessy (Chatham, N.H./Fryeburg Academy) netted a career-high - and game-high - 15 points in the loss, and added a team-best six rebounds. Senior Logan Pintka (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie Central) chipped in with 12 points and five offensive boards in the loss.

For Franklin Pierce  (5-0, 2-0 NE-10), Brooke Coderre tallied 14 points and four assists, while Marielle Giroud contributed 13 points, six rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals.

The Ravens scored nine of the game's first 11 points to take control, but Saint Michael's was able to cut its deficit to 25-23 at halftime, as the Purple Knights scored the final five points of the period.

Saint Michael's, however, was never able to pull even in the second half, as Franklin Pierce scored the first six points of the period to take an eight-point lead, and an 11-1 run later in the half gave the hosts a double-digit advantage they would not relinquish.

Franklin Pierce shot an even 50 percent from the field in the contest (25-of-50), compared to just 31 percent for Saint Michael's (18-of-59).

Saint Michael's returns to action on Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. contest at league-rival Stonehill College.
