Rodrigues, Wilkinson and Herbert Selected All-Lone Star Conference

RICHARDSON, TEXAS—  Emerson Rodrigues (Sr., F, Natal, RN, Brazil/Colegio Objectivo Portugar) and Andy Wilkinson’s (Fr., M, Lewes, East Sussex, England / Sussex Downs 6th form college) from the Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team have been selected First Team All-Lone Star Conference for their outstanding efforts during the 2010 season. Kal Herbert (So., M, Willaston, England / Neston High School) was selected Second Team All-LSC.

The trio led the Greyhounds to an eight-win season and the first national ranking in team history. The season included wins over teams such as West Texas A&M, Northeastern State and University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. In early October, the Hounds played to a 2-all tie with 16th-ranked University of the Incarnate Word.

Rodrigues was 40th in the NCAA Division II in goals per game and finished his career with almost every ENMU offensive record, including scoring 31 goals, which is 15 ahead of the closest Greyhound competitor. As a senior, he finished with nine goals, including the first hat trick of his career, coming in a win over Texas-Permian Basin. Rodrigues also scored in the tie against Incarnate Word. Rodrigues is a three-time First Team All-Conference selection and was chosen as an All-Region player in each of the last two seasons.

Wilkinson earned LSC Player of the Week honors in late September, and has been one of the team’s most consistent players. His 16 points ties him for the seventh-highest single-season total in team history. Wilkinson tallied the third hat trick in team history, coming in a late-season match against Northeastern State.

Herbert, repeats as a Second team All-LSC selection and was last year’s LSC Co-Freshman of the Year. As a sophomore, he finished with seven goals and seven assists, tallying game-winning goals at Northeastern State and Newman University. Herbert dished out assists on both goals in a 2-1 win over West Texas A&M.
