UMD, Augie and St. Cloud Playing in Postseason
INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division II Football Committee announced the 24-team field for the 2010 NCAA Football Championship. In Super Region #3 the NSIC will boast the top two seeds in Minnesota Duluth and Augustana, who will receive first round byes. St. Cloud State, the #4 seed, will host #5 Hillsdale (Mich.) College in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Husky Stadium. This will mark the third NCAA playoff appearance for the Huskies and second straight for Hillsdale College. The Huskies have played in two other NCAA playoffs, in 1989 advancing to the quarterfinals and in 2004.
The Bulldogs, one of just three unbeaten NCAA II clubs in the nation, will open postseason play on Nov. 27 at James S. Malosky Stadium by taking on the winner of this Saturday's first round Saturday's first round game between No. 4 St. Cloud State University (9-2 overall) of the NSIC and No. 5 Hillsdale College (9-2) of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. This marks the fifth time in school history that the Bulldogs have qualified for the NCAA II postseason.
With the No. 2 seed, Augustana will get a first-round bye and will play the winner of the No. 3 seed Grand Valley State/No. 6 seed Colorado School of Mines game, a first-round contest that will be played on Nov. 20. This marks the third time Augustana has been selected for the NCAA Playoffs and the first time in school history the Vikings will host a playoff game. Augustana also made it postseason action in 1988 and 1989.
