Walsh Scores 14 in Return
Ames, Iowa- The Minnesota State women's basketball fell to Iowa State, 87-48, in its lone exhibition game this season.
MSU started the game on fire as junior guard Lauren Barber making a three-pointer that was assisted by senior guard Andrea Walsh. After a miss by Iowa State, Walsh drained a jumper to give the Mavericks a 5-2 lead.
The Cyclones scored on their next possession, with the Mavericks retaliated with a basket, pushing the Mavericks lead to 7-4.
ISU then went on a 37-18 run to close the half, opening a 44-25 halftime lead.
Iowa State clinched the win with a 20-0 run in the second half, a span in which it held MSU without a field goal for seven minutes and 33 seconds.
Walsh led MSU with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting while gathering four rebounds. Sophomore forward Ali Wilkinson added seven points and three steals. MSU finished the night shooting 35 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc.
The Mavericks will play their first regular season game Nov. 19, at the Maverick Classic in Mankato against Grandview.
