Lynn Volleyball Drops Regular Season Finale To Saint Leo

Saint Leo, Fla. – Lynn University’s volleyball fell in three sets to Saint Leo (25-21, 25-22, 26-24) Friday night at the Lions’ Bowman Center.  The Fighting Knights fall to 20-9 and 11-5 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Haley Pratt led the team with nine kills and hit .350 for the match.  She was followed By Kala Abdell with eight, Katie Bradley with seven, Chelsey Semprini with six and Sophie Gagnon with five.  Devon Woolard recorded 32 assists and seven digs while Lacy Redwine collected a match-high 16 digs.

Despite outhitting Saint Leo in the opening set, Lynn dropped the first set, 25-21as five aces by the Lions proved to be the difference.  Abdell led the Knights with four kills on ten swings while Pratt added three kills on six attacks.

Lynn had just nine kills compared to 20 for Saint Leo in the second frame as the Lions took the set, 25-22.  Lynn managed to hit a respectable .214 but SLU hit .333 for the stanza.  Abdell, Pratt and Gagnon each had two kills as five service errors by the Lions kept Lynn in the set.

The Blue & White did not fare any better in the third and hit .158 for the set compared to .263 for the Green and Gold.  Semprini and Pratt led the squad with four kills apiece in the frame.

For the match, Lynn was outhit .293 to .218 and outkilled, 50-36.

The 2010 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship selections announcement will be streamed online via www.NCAA.com at 10 p.m. Eastern time, Sunday, November 14.  The Fighting Knights entered tonight’s match with the Lions ranked third in the South Region.
