Lady Jags Fifth In Texas

Marit Bjerke, Christine Duschek-Hansen among top 20

AUSTIN, Texas -- Augusta State tallied rounds of 288 and 294 Monday during the first two rounds of the Challenge at Onion Creek.

At 22-over 582, the Lady Jaguars are in fifth place and just eight strokes off the lead in the 15-team field heading into Tuesday’s third and final round at Onion Creek Golf Club.

Sophomore Marit Bjerke and freshman Christine Duschek-Hansen are tied for 14th and 16th, respectively. Bjerke posted an even-par 70 and 4-over 74, while Duschek-Hansen turned in a 2-over 72 and 3-over 73. 

Sophomore Natalie Willie (73-74) is tied for 27th at 7-over 147. Kirsty Rands posted rounds of 73-77 and is tied for 39th at 10-over 150, while freshman Casey Kennedy shot 79-73 and is tied for 49th at 12-over 152.

Coastal Carolina owns a one-stroke lead over Iowa State and Michigan. Illinois is fourth, just three shots off the pace, and ASU is five back of the Fighting Illini.

With a 3-under 137, Michigan’s Min Yean Tan (70-67) took a one-shot lead over Lindsay Gahm of Indiana and Illinois’ Ember Schuldt.

The Lady Jaguars will be paired with Illinois and Indiana on Tuesday, which gets underway with a 9:30 a.m., (EST) shotgun start.
