Keough Leads Hawks to 92-59 Rout of Holy Family at NE-10 Challenge

Albany, N.Y. (November 13) -- Led by a 25-point, 13-rebound double-double from junior forward Jack Keough (Owego, N.Y.), the Saint Anselm men's basketball team defeated Holy Family, 92-59, on Saturday in the first day of the NE-10 Challenge, hosted at Saint Rose. Both totals are career-highs for Keough.

Keough, who finished the day 8-of-9 from the field and 9-for-12 at the free throw line, had 11 points and 10 boards at the half. With the game tied at 22-22 midway thru the first half, the Hawks took the lead for good on a free throw by senior Pat Luptowski (Keene, N.H.) and turned that into a 14-0 run for a 36-22 lead with 4:26 left. Saint Anselm led by a 45-31 margin at the halftime break and after an 11-0 run midway thru the second quarter, the lead swelled to 25 points at 68-43. The Hawks were never threatened the rest of the way as they defeated the Tigers for the second straight year in the season opener.

In addition to the career-high double-double from Keough, the Hawks received 16 points from senior All-American candidate Thomas Baudinet (Watertown, Conn.) as he moved into 13th on the Saint Anselm all-time scoring list with 1,355 career points. Freshman John Nielsen (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) finished in double figures as well with 14 points, including connecting on 4-for-8 from three-point land. The Hawks outrebounded Holy Family by a 51-35 margin and outscored the Tigers in the paint, 34-18.

Taylor Papion led three Tigers in double figures with 13 points as he finished 5-for-5 from the field, including knocking down a trio of three-pointers.

Saint Anselm resumes play on Sunday afternoon at the NE-10 Challenge, taking on Dominican College in a 2 p.m. start.
