AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s golf team is ranked No. 3 in the nation in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches Poll.
The defending national champion Jaguars have enjoyed a solid season to date, registering two runnerup finishes and a fourth-place effort in the first three events of their Fall, 2010 schedule.
ASU ranks behind only Oklahoma State, who received 16 of the 18 first-place votes, and Florida. The Gators and No. 13 Stanford garnered the other two first-place votes. Alabama and UCLA round out the top five, while Georgia, Texas, Auburn, Illinois and Georgia Tech round out the top 10.
Four schools moved into the top 25: Arkansas (No. 15), California (No. 18), N.C. State (No. 19) and San Diego State (No. 21).
The Jags close out the 2010 portion of their schedule on Nov. 8-10 in the Gifford Collegiate Championship at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif. CordeValle recently served as host site of the PGA Tour’s Frys.com Open, won by Rocco Mediate.
