HPU Women’s Soccer Routs UH-Hilo

Kaneohe, HI – On the season finale for the Lady Sea Warriors, the HPU women’s soccer team defeated UH-Hilo, 4-1. HPU (9-8, 9-5) finishes the season with five straight wins and a fourth place finish in the PacWest. UHH closes at 6-10-1 overall and 5-8 in conference.

The Sea Warriors scored all their goals before halftime, each by different players. Yasmina Taketa and Meghan Fuller scored within the first five minutes of the match. Both players found holes in the Vulcan defense and scored on breakaways.

Sanoe Souza scored in the 12th minute and Amber Fuller netted HPU’s final goal midway through the first half.

Lindsey Poulsen scored UH-Hilo’s lone goal just four minutes into the second half.

Carianne Makino made eight saves for HPU, with Vulcan keeper Alysia Barone posting three saves.

After the match seniors Lauren Avenue and Jackie Diaz-Sua were honored for their contributions to HPU soccer.
