Georgia College Soccer’s Binkowski and Treat Named To 2011 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Team

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Seniors Jessica Binkowski (Cumming, Ga.) and Ally Treat (Fayetteville, Ga.) of the Georgia College soccer team (7-7-3, 4-4-2 PBC) were recently named to the 2011 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Team.

Binkowski is a First Team selection with a 3.96 GPA while majoring in biology. This is the second such honor for the senior defender who was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Third Team as a sophomore. Binkowski moves on to consideration for the Academic All-America Team which will be announced Thursday, Nov. 18.

Treat was a Third Team selection, majoring in biology adding a minor in Spanish with a 3.91 GPA.

All-time there have been just six Georgia College soccer student-athletes named Academic All-District.

Armstrong Atlantic and UNC Pembroke were the only other Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools with student-athletes receiving the honor.

Criteria involved for being nominated include being a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The student-athlete must also have completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
