Gannon Women's Golf Team Still Among Others Receiving Votes in Latest National Rankings

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women’s golf team remains among others receiving votes in the latest Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division II Coaches Poll released Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Knights have captured points in three consecutive national polls.

Defending NCAA Division II national champion Nova Southeastern (Fla.) is the No. 1 pick, securing 375 points and 15 first-place votes. Florida Southern sits in second place with 358 points. Tarleton State (347), Rollins (Fla.) (303) and Grand Canyon (286) completed the top five.

Augustana (277), St. Edward’s (254), Central Oklahoma (239), Western Washington (230) and Sonoma State (214) rounded out the top 10.

Gannon was one of 14 programs listed among others receiving votes, securing three points. The Lady Knights concluded the fall season by finishing second out of seven teams at the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship. Head coach Jason Willow’s squad won three of six events during the fall campaign and finished among the top six every time.

Three Lady Knights averaged fewer than 80 strokes per round during the fall season. Amanda Teodorsson (Savedalen, Sweden/Porthalla) leads the team with a 78.3 average through 11 rounds. The freshman has placed in the top 10 during five of six events, including three top-five finishes.

Kelly Nickerson (79.3) and Kiersten Klekner-Alt (79.4) also own scoring averages under 80. Bhanisha Nagindas (80.2) and Rhiannon Ray (83.7) complete Gannon’s normal starting lineup.
