PHOENIX, Ariz. — Dominican University of California senior guard Kelsey Janusch has been named to the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for the first two weeks of the season. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office and are for games contested November 12-14 and November 15-21.
The Novato, Calif. native (Marin Catholic HS) averaged 12.5 points per game in the Lady Penguins’ first two games, including a season-opening loss at Division I CSU Bakersfield. She shot 5-of-9 (.556) from beyond the three-point line and averaged 2.5 three-pointers made per game.
In the season’s second week, Janusch averaged 19.5 points, four assists, and two steals per game in a pair of games despite the Lady Penguins dropping to 0-4 on the young season. She ranked fifth in scoring and tied for fifth in assist average for the week among PacWest players. She led the PacWest in free throw shooting by going a perfect 16-for-16 from the line.
Janusch and the Dominican women head to Alaska for three games in the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational hosted by Alaska-Fairbanks. The Lady Penguins tipoff on Thanksgiving night with the host Nanooks. The day after, on Friday, November 26, they face Fort Lewis (Durango, Colo.), and on Saturday, November 27 Dominican faces Mercyhurst College (Erie, Pa.).
