Beekman Tabbed 2010 AVCA Division II Third-Team All-America

Beekman becomes fifth Maverick All-American in Program History


       Lexington, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 30th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division II women's volleyball and senior outside hitter Amanda Beekman earned third-team honors.

Beekman becomes the fifth Maverick to earn All-American honors, joining the ranks of former Mavericks: Jen Blendermann, Jen Jacobs, Nichole Rose and Ashley Nachreiner. She is the second All-American to be coached be coached by Dennis Amundson in his sixth year with the program.

Beekman, a native of Marshall, Minn., finished her senior season with a team-best 345 kills (3.35 kills per set). She also tallied 13 assists, 15 service aces, 188 digs and 49 total blocks. Beekman finished her career third on the all-time kills list with 1,417. She also earned NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors Sept. 13.

Minnesota State finished the 2010 season with a 20-8 overall record, 12-7 in the NSIC and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the eighth time in program history.
