#17 Mavericks Defeat Northern State, 3-1

Four Mavericks Tally Double Digit Kills

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State volleyball team, ranked seventeenth in the nation, knocked off Northern State Friday evening, 3-1.

The Mavericks took the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-22, dropped the third, 15-25, and then ended the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set.

Senior outside hitter Amanda Beekman, sophomore right-side hitter Megan Ysker and sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty each tallied 11 kills to pace the Mavericks. Senior middle blocker Amanda Thompson tallied 10 kills.

With her 11 kills, Beekman has now earned 1,386 career kills, passing former Maverick stand-out Ashley Nachreiner for third all-time.

Junior setter Brittany Stamer earned a team-best 47 helpers, while sophomore defensive specialist Samatha Dale finished with a team-high 23 digs.

MSU (18-7, 10-7 NSIC) will travel to Bismarck, North Dakota to face Mary for their final regular season road contest. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
