Offense was the name of the game through the first minute and a half as the two teams exchanged baskets to the tune of an 8-8 score. Only one shot was missed during the 16-point rally. Natalie Basore then put LU up for good, 10-8, when she grabbed a rebound off a Quanisha Dixon three-point miss and put back the shot for two of her nine points on the night.
Basore’s basket started a 29-9 run to close out the half and give the Knights a 37-17 lead heading into the locker room. Dixon set the tone on both offense and defense, logging seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in the period.
A lay-up by Daniella Howard seconds into the start of the second half was a mere blip on the radar as the Blue & White increased its advantage to 25. Lee knocked down a pair of shots at the charity stripe while Patterson hit one of her three treys on the night and quickly LU was on top 44-19.
Lynn’s bench was solid throughout the night, chipping in 24 points. Harris led the four-player contingent but Tashina Bailey added seven points, nine boards and two blocks while Haley Pratt contributed six points, four rebounds and one swat.
The Knights shot 45.6% as a team from the field, including 46.7% from downtown, and hit 79.2% from the line. They held Florida Memorial (2-6) to a paltry 29.3% shooting and forced 22 turnovers.
LU returns to the hardwood on Saturday, December 11, at 5:30 p.m. when it hosts Eckerd in its Sunshine State Conference opener. Fans can watch the game live by logging on to www.LynnFightingKnights.com and selecting “Game Central.”
