Evans named Daktronics Honorable Mention All-American

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines women’s soccer player Anna Evans has been named Daktronics Honorable Mention All-American as announced today.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fifth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America and all-region teams.

Evans becomes just the second women’s soccer player at Mines to earn All-American honors. Kayla Mitchell garnered Daktronics First Team All-American honors in 2009.

Evans, a freshman midfielder / forward from Arvada, Colo. (Arvada West H.S.), was the first women’s soccer player in the history of Mines to be named Freshman of the Year. A Second Team All-RMAC selection, Evans started all 21 matches this season for Mines. A Daktronics First Team All-Central Region pick, Evans finished the season ranked fourth in the RMAC with 11 goals. Evans tallied 26 total points among players in the RMAC which ranked her fourth as she earned NSCAA Second Team All-Central Region honors.

The Orediggers finished the 2010 season with a record of 11-6-4 overall and 9-4-1 in the RMAC. Mines appeared in the RMAC Tournament for the fourth straight season. The 2010 season marked the third consecutive season CSM earned an NCAA Tournament berth in just the sixth season of the program.
