Junior guard Clare Aubry had the hot hand for The University of Findlay women’s basketball team as she led the Oilers to an 85-64 win over Northwood University on Thursday, December 2 in Midland, Michigan. The win gives the Oilers a 5-1 record on the season with a 1-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Aubry scorched the nets for a career-high 34 points, the fourth highest single game total in the history of UF women’s basketball. She also drained 7-of-8 three pointers on the night to tie the school record for triples in a contest, which was accomplished twice in a game by former Findlay sharpshooter Maggie Gompers.
Overall, Aubry connected on 13-of-17 shots from the floor and also added five rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
Junior guard Laura Bardall also had a great game, scoring 16 points to go along with seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Sophomore forward Kayla Brown and sophomore guard Kendra Elam added seven points apiece for the Oilers in the win.
As a team, the Oilers connected on 52.6 percent (30-of-57) of their field goal attempts and drilled 11-of-20 (55%) shots from behind the three point line.
Pam Wilson led Northwood with 22 points and ten rebounds as the Oilers limited the Timberwolves to a mere 37.9 percent (22-of-58) shooting clip.
The Oilers will be back in action again on December 11 when they travel to University Center, Michigan to face Saginaw Valley State University at 8 pm.
