Women's Tennis takes on stiff competition at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE — The Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis team will face some stiff competition this weekend when the Warriors participate in the Matador Invitational at Cal State Northridge. The tournament gets underway on Friday.

The tournament featuring three flights each in both the singles and doubles draws, is mainly comprised of Division I student-athletes. Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State L.A. and The Master's College are the only non-Division I programs entered.

Stanislaus top players Vanesa Reibstein and Verena Preikschas are in Flight A with Reibstein getting a first round bye. She will sit out until Friday at 11 a.m. to take on Sarah Landsman of the University of Arizona. Landsman is the third seeded singles player in the draw.

Preikschas, who missed the USTA/ITA Regionals in Los Angeles in early October as she was recovering from foot surgery, plays on Friday at 11 a.m. versus Loyola Marymount's Shauna Morgan.

The Warriors' top doubles duo of Katie Eng and Reibstein is also in Flight A of the doubles bracket and they will be taking on Arizona's Landsman and Natasha Marks, the top seed in the draw.
