West Texas A&M to Face Central Missouri In First-Round of NCAA D-II Playoffs

Buffs to make fifth playoff appearance in past six seasons

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes will visit MIAA-member Central Missouri, Saturday, Nov. 20, in Warrensburg, Mo., for first-round action of the 2010 NCAA Division II Football Championships.  Kickoff at CMU’s Audrey J. Walton Stadium is set for 1 p.m. CST.

The Buffaloes, who made previous playoff appearances in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, concluded their 2010 regular season this past Saturday by gaining a school-record 735 yards total offense in a 52-21 win over East Central, running their record to 8-3 overall, 8-2 in Lone Star Conference action.

Central Missouri finished the season with records of 9-2 overall, 8-1 in MIAA action.  The Mules will be making their first playoff appearance since the 2002 season.

WTAMU is the fifth seed in Super Region 4, while CMU is the number four seed.  Lone Star Conference members Abilene Christian (11-0) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (10-1) are the one and two seeds, respectively, and will have first-round byes.  Rounding out the bracket are third-seed Northwest Missouri State (9-1) and sixth-seed Missouri Western State (8-3), who will meet Nov. 20 in Maryville, Mo.
