Warriors fall to Westmont at Lamont Ramsey Classic

ATHERTON -- Without Reggie Jones, the Warriors were outrebounded and shot less than 40 percent for the game as Cal State Stanislaus falls to Westmont College, 68-57, at the Lamont Ramsey Classic at Menlo College.

Evan Scott led the team with 11 points and three rebounds and Marcus Lever added 10 points to pace the Warriors as they fell to 0-2 on the season. Reggie Jones started the game and recorded just a minute of play. His status is currently unknow at press time.

Cal State Stanislaus was rebounded by Westmont 37-22 without the 6-foot-9 center and the team's leading scorer in Jones. Jones led Stanislaus with 17 points and eight rebounds in last week's season opener versus Chico State.

Scott was 4 of 10 from the field but had five blocked shots to lead the Warriors. Lever was more prolific shooting from the field, hitting four of nine attempts with two three-pointers.

Westmont had five players in double digit in scoring with Dan Rasp and Matthew Hornbuckle each with 14 points. Westmont also rebounded the Warriors 37-22.

As a team the Warriors were 20 of 51 for 39.2 percent from the floor. Mactar Gueye chipped in nine points, Dan Daviess chipped in eight and Brett Sayad had seven.

The Warriors will take on tournament host Menlo College on Saturday at 4 p.m. to conclude play at the Lamont Ramsey Classic before hosting a pair of conference games at Fitzpatrick Arena next weekend.
