UAA duo sweeps GNAC weekly hoops honors

SPOKANE, Wash. (Nov. 15) – Alaska Anchorage basketball players Taylor Rohde and Hanna Johansson were named Monday as the respective men’s and women’s GNAC Players of the Week after strong performances at Disney’s Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim.

Rohde, a 6-9 junior transfer from Arizona State, earned all-tournament honors at Disney, averaging 15.0 points and 5.7 rebounds in UAA’s three games. The Phoenix native connected on 14 of 24 shots and 17 of 22 free throws, scoring 12 points in UAA’s 67-52 victory Sunday over tournament champion UC San Diego.

Johansson, a 6-2 junior center, averaged 13.7 points and 9.0 rebounds to earn all-tournament honors and lead the Seawolves to a 2-1 record and the tournament title. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native had 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and 10 rebounds in UAA’s win Friday over 11th-ranked UC San Diego and followed with seven points and eight rebounds in Saturday’s victory over Pac West Conference preseason favorite Grand Canyon.
