SPOKANE, Wash. – Four Alaska Anchorage Seawolves were among the 79 student-athletes – 33 men and 46 women - that were named to the 2010 Great Northwest Athletic Conference cross country all-academic team on Thursday.
Earning their first all-academic team honor was senior Marko Cheseto (Kapenguria, Kenya) and sophomore Micah Chelimo (Kapkoi, Kenya). Chelimo, an engineering major, led the Seawolves with a 3.74 GPA, while Cheseto posted a GPA of 3.20 as a nursing major.
On the women’s side, junior Ruth Keino (Kapcheno, Kenya) and sophomore Miriam Kipng’eno (Eldoret, Kenya) represented the Seawolves. Both nursing majors, Keino made her second all-academic team with a 3.47 GPA and Kipng’eno claimed her first with a 3.34 GPA.
To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
