KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Coming off the 2010 Sunshine State Conference tournament championship, The University of Tampa men's soccer team moved up to No. 15 in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com national rankings. UT was previously 22nd in the poll.
"Rankings do not mean anything right now," says head coach Adrian Bush. "The best team in the country will be the one left standing at the end of the tournament (which opens up this weekend). We just hope to be competitive."
The Spartans, who currently stand at 14-6-1 on the season, won three games in the SSC tournament to claim the crown. Among the teams UT defeated were Nova Southeastern, No. 20 Barry and Florida Tech.
UT has now spent seven weeks of the 2010 season in the national top-25, being ranked as high as fifth in the preseason poll.
The Spartans now look forward to the NCAA South Regional, which features three teams in the national rankings. In addition to Tampa and Barry, No. 5 Rollins is also part of the field.
