Seawolves hobble Huskies for Shootout win

ANCHORAGE (Nov. 26) - Brandon Walker scored 25 points and fellow senior Casey Robinson added 14 points Friday to lead host Alaska Anchorage to a 74-67 victory over Houston Baptist in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout consolation semifinals at Sullivan Arena.

UAA (2-3) also got 11 points and a team-season-high nine rebounds from junior guard Mario Gill as the Division II Seawolves earned their 51st all-time victory over a Division I program.

HBU (0-5) was led by 15 points apiece from guards Michael Moss and T.J. Berry.

After falling behind 16-11 after 10 minutes, the Seawolves responded with 13 straight points and outscored the Huskies 20-5 for the remainder of the first half. UAA built its advantage as high as 48-32 and led by 14 points with 7 minutes left before hanging on down the stretch.

A 6-3 guard from Hayward, Calif., Walker shot 10 of 16 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from three-point land, to post his fourth career game of 20 points or more in the Shootout. He also added two assists and tied his career-high with three blocked shots.

Robinson, meanwhile, nailed 2 of 5 threes, along with six rebounds, three assists, two steals and no turnovers in 35 minutes.

Senior point guard Drew Robinson delivered nine points (6-6 FT) and six assists to help UAA capture at least one Shootout victory for the 27th time in 33 tournaments. The Seawolves are now 31-67 all-time in their flagship event.

With the win, the Seawolves advance to Saturday's 2 p.m. 4th/6th-place game against Ball State, while the Huskies will take on Southern Utah in the 7th-place game at noon.
