Samantha Kay and Courtney Peffley Earn SSC Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team had a pair of players earn all-Sunshine State Conference honors, with both Samantha Kay and Courtney Peffley earning a spot on the second team.

Kay earned an at-large selection to the team as the junior midfielder has three goals and four assists on the season. Peffley, a sophomore defender, owns a team-high 11 assists to go with one goal.

Twenty-four student-athletes have been recognized as members of the 2010 All-Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Team. Saint Leo's Pia Soesemann was selected SSC Player and Offensive Player of the Year. Rollins' Meagan Thomas was named Defensive Player of the Year. Barry's Emma Karp was tabbed Freshman of the Year. Nova Southeastern's Mike Goodrich was chosen Coach of the Year.

Named to the all-SSC First Team with Soesemann, Thomas, and Karp were: forward Casey Lademann (Florida Tech); midfielders Alexis Hernandez (Nova Southeastern), Paula Lillsjo (Florida Tech), and Charlotte Murrell (Rollins); defenders Ann-Marie Helgestad (Florida Tech) and Leah Hirsch (Rollins), goalkeeper Mist Eliasdottir (Florida Tech); and at-large selection Princess Haley (Florida Southern).

Earning all-SSC Second Team recognition were: forwards Kerri-Ann Brown (Florida Southern), Melissa Madrid (Barry), and Melissa Ortiz (Lynn); midfielders Jackie Bachteler (Florida Southern), Cassie Barbaresi (Saint Leo), and Courtney Peffley (Tampa); defenders Aija Bent-Trinder (Saint Leo), Jasmine Johnson (Saint Leo), and Kristen Vollmer (Florida Southern); goalkeeper Michelle Dillingham (Rollins); and at large-selection Samantha Kay (Tampa).

Saint Leo's Chrissy Darwell and Malloree Enoch earned honorable mention.

Voting for the All-SSC team was conducted among the league's women's soccer coaches and sports information directors.
