TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa men's soccer players Ryan Griffin and Karl Swan have received CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-District honors for the second straight year, with Griffin earning a spot on the first team. Fellow Spartan Brian Fekete joined Swan on the second team.
Griffin, who will now appear on the ballot for Academic All-American, is a government and world affairs major who is also a two-time member of the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. In 17 games, Griffin has scored six goals with a pair of assists as a junior.
Swan and Fekete are also mainstays in the UT lineup, as both have started all 18 games for Tampa. Swan ranks as the team leader in minutes while Fekete has three goals and four assists from his defensive position.
Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs).
