No. 4 ESU Field Hockey Falls to No. 1 Shippensburg, 3-0

EAST STROUDSBURG – No. 1-ranked Shippensburg completed an undefeated regular season with a 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in a regional field hockey match-up on Thursday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Bre White opened the scoring for Shippensburg (20-0) 15 minutes into the game and Taylor Jones scored with 1:12 left in the first half to give the Lady Raiders a 2-0 lead. Kristina Taylor scored on an assist from White with 38 seconds left in the second half to set the final margin.

Junior goalkeeper Maureen Ordnung made 11 saves for the Warriors, who were outshot 20-8. Ciarra Delost made five saves for Shippensburg to post its eighth shutout. Shippensburg beat ESU, 3-2 (OT), in the first meeting on Oct. 23.

ESU (15-4) finishes the regular season with a PSAC East game against Millersville on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Whitenight Field. The Warriors have already secured a PSAC playoff spot in next week’s conference tournament, which will be played at Bloomsburg, unless the Huskies lose to C.W. Post and ESU beats Millersville in regulation.

Shippensburg is ranked No. 1 in the South Region most recent NCAA Division II regional rankings. Bloomsburg is No. 2 followed by ESU and No. 3. The top three schools in both the North and South regions in the final rankings will comprise the field for the NCAA Division II Championships.
