WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University soccer players and co-captains Mike Nikiforov (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and Bill Nussdorfer (Harvard, Mass./Bromfield School) will play in Sunday’s New England Inter-Regional Soccer League All-Star game for the Division II squad. Head coach Gary Crompton has been selected to coach the team.
The All-Star game, which is Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Harvard University, will pit a team of Division I players against a team of Division II players from the region.
Nikiforov was chosen as the 2010 Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, in addition to being named first team All-Conference and to the NE-10 All-Tournament team. He finished the season with a record of 9-3-6 with nine shutouts, and posted a 0.66 goals against average and a .863 save percentage.
Nussdorfer, a back, started 19 games for Bentley. He anchored a defense that posted 11 clean sheets on the season, and set a school record by not allowing a goal for 695 minutes which spanned six games and parts of two others. The Falcons allowed just 0.65 goals per game which was fourth in the conference.
Crompton just completed his third season at Bentley, and led his team to the Northeast-10 finals for the first time since 1994. The Falcons finished the season with a record of 11-3-6, their most wins since 2003.
