MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men’s cross country team is set to race in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships Saturday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. held in Evans, Ga. The Bobcat men will enter seven runners into the race and the top five scores will count towards the team score.
The Bobcats remained at No. 10 this week in the NCAA Division II Region Poll. The top-three stayed the same with Queens holding on to first place, PBC opponent Columbus State taking second and King taking third. Other PBC teams mentioned in the poll were UNC Pembroke at six and Clayton at seven, respectively.
This year, the men will race senior Cary and juniors Daniel Horseman (Cohutta, Ga.), Rob Manning (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Colin Conroy (Dacula, Ga.). The Bobcats bring three freshmen along with them to the PBC Championships, Tucker Forbes (Lilburn, Ga.), Philip Laskey (Marietta, Ga.) and Zack Robinson (Snellville, Ga.).
Powered by four runners in the top-30, the Georgia College men's cross country team took fifth at the PBC Championships last year hosted by UNC Pembroke. Senior Tim Cary (Monroe, Ga.) paced the ‘Cats for the third time last season finishing 25th overall in 28:44.
Horseman continues to impress this season. He has run in five races pacing the Bobcats three times. His best finish was a first place finish at the YHC Invitational and his best time was 26:11 at the ASU Tri-Meet, which set the new school record for an 8K.
Manning is running another strong season. He has competed in five meets finishing second overall at the YHC Invitational. He posted his best time for the Bobcats at the ASU Tri-Meet with a time of 26:39.
Laskey has run in five races thus far in the 2010 season. His highest place finish was eighth at the Citadel Invitational with a time of 28:17. His best time was 26:28 at the Augusta State University (ASU) Tri-Meet, finishing ninth.
