Lopers Remain 4th in Region Rankings; Need to Beat Mines to Secure Playoff Spot

Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney football team is still ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Region Rankings.

These rankings determine the 24-team playoff field (six teams in four regions). The top two teams in each region receive a first round bye with the third and fourth teams hosting first round games November 20th.

The playoff field will be announced this Sunday, November 14th, on ESPNews between 2-2:30 p.m. Central.

UNK and the rest of the RMAC in is "Super Regional Three," which is made up of schools from the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) and the GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).

Minnesota-Duluth is now in the top spot after Augustana, playing with its backup QB, lost at Wayne State Saturday. Augie will continue to play with its backup QB for the foreseeable future.

The Lopers (9-1, 8-0 RMAC) play at Colorado Mines this weekend. In UNK's last trip to Golden in 2008, the Orediggers claimed a 37-20 victory. A win over Mines and the Lopers will likely host a playoff game; a loss and the team would be on the bubble to make the playoffs.
