Panthers host No. 2 Bellarmine on Thursday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 30, 2010) — Kentucky Wesleyan jumped five spots to No. 11 in the second weekly National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 men's basketball poll today. The Panthers debuted at No. 16 last week.
KWC (5-0) will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play by hosting arch-rival and No. 2 Bellarmine (3-0) on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The College will honor "Voice of the Panthers" Joel Utley for his 50th season of broadcasting KWC games on the radio at halftime. It will be his 1,418 game.
This marks the 309th time, a Division II record, KWC has been in the Top 25 since the rankings started in 1961.
Defending 2010 NCAA Champions Cal Poly Pomona held on to the No. 1 spot for the second straight week. Other Midwest Region teams ranked were No. 2 (tied) Findlay and Bellarmine, No. 16 Grand Valley State, No. 20 Northern Kentucky, No. 22 Southern Indiana and No. 25 Hillsdale.
