FELICIAN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SHOWS STINGY DEFENSE IN 46-31 WIN AT SAINT ANSELM

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- The Felician College women's basketball team forced 31 turnovers in its 46-31 non-conference basketball victory over host Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. Senior forward Quay Baskerville (Hartford, CT) led Felician (1-1) with 21 points, nine rebounds, and five steals.

Saint Anselm (3-1) scored the game's first eight points, only to see the Golden Falcons come back with the next 10. With the score tied 12-12, Felician held the Hawks scoreless for nearly seven minutes, with a late Baskerville three-point field goal giving her team a 19-14 halftime lead. Baskerville (10) and freshman Gisell Peguero (Brooklyn, NY) combined for 17 of the Golden Falcons' 19 first-half points.

Felician junior Jessica Ford (Jersey City, NJ) scored the first two baskets of the second period, touching off a six-minute, 10-0 run which put the visitors in full control. The Golden Falcons led by as many as 21 points on two occasions, and the Hawks got no closer than 42-31 with fewer than two minutes to play.

Felician held the hosts to 24-percent shooting on the day, including 16 percent after halftime. It was the lowest number of points allowed by Felician in 11 years, since a 60-31 victory over NYIT on Nov. 21, 1999. The last time the Golden Falcons yielded fewer was Nov. 27, 1998, a 66-30 win over CCNY. The school record is 27 points to Stevens Institute of Technology on Nov. 28, 1997.

Megan Howard (St. Paul, MN) had a game-high 12 rebounds for the Hawks, and Morgan Frame (Waterville, ME) scored seven points with seven rebounds off the bench.
