Cardenas Garners First All-Lone Star Conference Recognition of Career

WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS. — Junior goalkeeper Sierra Cardenas (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Wheat Ridge HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team has been selected Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference for her efforts during the 2010 season.

A three-time Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, Cardenas earned her first All-LSC selection after facing an average of 13.4 shots on goal per game. As a junior, she posted victories over Wayland Baptist, Texas-Permian Basin, East Central and Southwestern Oklahoma.

Cardenas registered a save percentage of at least .700 in 11 of her 16 matches this season, including a .792 performance with 10 saves in an overtime loss to third-ranked Fort Lewis. In nine of her matches, she did not allow a first-half goal to the opposition. Cardenas’ two shutouts this season snapped a tie with Stephanie Sanchez, giving her the ENMU career record, with nine shutout performances.
