Bloomsburg Men's Basketball Falls to University of the Sciences

PHILADELPHIA—The Bloomsburg University men’s basketball team lost to the University of the Sciences on Tuesday night by a score of 51-49.

With the Huskies trailing 44-40 with 6:01 left in the game, Bloomsburg used a 7-0 run to go on top for the first time in the second half. Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown, Norristown) converted a conventional three-point play to make it 44-43 with 4:47 to go.John Schwarz (Delta, Perry Hall) then followed with a jumper in the lane for a 45-44 lead before Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport, Williamsport) hit two free throws capping the 7-0 rally.

The Devils though answered with back to back baskets to regain the lead at 49-47 with 46 seconds to play. Bloomsburg then worked the ball to Jordan who hit a jumper knotting the game at 49-all with 28 seconds to play.

USCI then worked the clock down to 10 seconds to go. After a couple of misses inside, Bloomsburg was called for a foul sending Adewale Adefemi to the foul line. There he converted both free throws for a 51-49 lead. The Huskies had a chance to win it with a three-pointer, but Jesse Betar's (Altoona, Altoona) shot was off-line at the buzzer.

In the first half the Huskies led by as many as nine points, 19-10, with Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD) scoring eight points. The Devils rallied using a 13-3 run and went into halftime with a three point edge.

Johnson and Christmas each scored 11 points for the Huskies, now 1-3 on the season. University of the Sciences was led by William Kernan with 12 points. The Huskies play at Penn State Hazleton on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
