Adams State DeLorenzo named RMAC Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Adams State College junior linebacker Rocco DeLorenzo (Arvada, Colo.) has been named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Rawlings Player of the Week after he matched a career-high by making 17 tackles in the Grizzlies' 41-34 double overtime win over Mesa State on Saturday.

He also recovered a fumble and had a half-tackle for a loss against the Mavericks, a squad the Grizzlies have defeated three straight and six of the last seven years.

The RMAC Player of the Week honor is the second of DeLorenzo's career and makes him the third Grizzly this season to earn such an award joining Trevor Eggleston (Tucson, Ariz.), named as the Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 30, and Trevor Zott (Arvada, Colo.), the Oct. 11 special teams pick.

Despite missing one game due to injury, DeLorenzo has made 94 tackles this season, second most in the RMAC, and ranks 14th in the NCAA Division II National Statistics for tackles per game (10.44).

The Grizzlies, currently 4-6 overall and tied with Mesa State and Western New Mexico for fifth place at 3-5 in the conference standings will close out the year by facing Western State in Gunnison on Saturday (Nov. 13) at 1 p.m.  The Grizzlies have won the Colorado Classic rivalry game in each of the last eight years.

Saturday's game against the Mountaineers (1-9, 1-7 RMAC) can be heard live on KSPK-FM (104.1 in Alamosa) and seen online with a single-game or season pass subscription to AmericaOne.  Live statistics will also be available on the Mountaineers' web site by clicking here.
