Belmont Abbey sophomore Angela Jubb led all players with 11 kills as the Crusaders volleyball team earned an easy 3-0 win over the visiting Coker Cobras this evening at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 25-23, 25-16 and 25-10. The Abbey, winners of six of its last eight, move to 17-8 overall and 10-5 in Conference Carolinas, while the Cobras drop to 2-22 overall and 2-13 in Conference Carolinas.
The Abbey hit a blistering .341 for the match (42 kills, 11 errors on 91 total attacks) including a tally of .435 in the third set (10 kills, zero errors on 23 total attacks) while it held Coker to a -.125 in the third set (seven kills, 11 errors on 32 total attacks) and a .022 for the match (23 kills, 21 errors on 90 total attacks).
Jubb led all players with 11 kills on 17 attacks with just four errors (.412) and registered six of the Abbey's nine total blocks, with two block solos and four block assist. She also had three digs. Remick Tiller posted ten kills on 17 attacks with just two errors (.471), and Kay Schellenberg hit .467 with eight kills on 15 attacks with just one error. She handed out 29 assists and logged six digs and two block assists. Lydia Schellenberg knocked down seven kills and led all players with ten digs as the Abbey won that category by a 42-33 edge. Bria James added nine digs and two block assists to go along with two kills. Senior Jennifer Angelich hit .429 with three kills on seven attacks with no errors.
The six Abbey starters combined to hit .441 (41 kills, 11 errors, 68 total attacks).
Coker was led by Katie McElveen's seven kills, while Cynallhia Indriago added six and six digs. Molly Bookhart handed out 18 assists. McElveen led the Cobras with nine digs.
