Warriors Wrestle at Bloomsburg Duals

BLOOMSBURG – East Stroudsburg University faced three Division I programs at Sunday’s Bloomsburg Duals, falling to Drexel (28-6), the host Huskies (38-6) and Buffalo (30-12) as the Warriors prepare for a Division II-laden schedule during the second half of the season.

Redshirt junior Adam Hluschak, ranked No. 4 in Division II at 141 pounds, won all three of his matches for the Warriors. He posted a 3-1 decision over Drexel’s Josh Yurasits of Northampton, a 4-3 decision vs. Bloomsburg’s Derek Shingara, and a 9-6 decision over Buffalo’s Chris Conti II. The victory over Shingara avenged Shingara’s 7-4 decision in the semifinals of the PSAC Championships last weekend at Bloomsburg.

Other Warriors who earned victories were redshirt freshman Luke Grassi (157, 12-9 vs. Drexel’s Charles Aungst), freshman Jordan Toledo (133, 7-5 vs. Bloomsburg’s Jeremiah Biddle) and sophomore Will Weaver (285, 5-2 vs. Buffalo’s Brett Correll). Toledo also won by forfeit in ESU’s match against Buffalo.

Redshirt junior Thad Frick (165) was the only Warrior to face a ranked Division I wrestler, dropping a tight 4-3 decision to Drexel’s Joseph Booth, who is No. 15 in the nation.

ESU (1-5), which has faced five Division I schools and the No. 9-ranked team in Division II in its first six duals, will be in action at the Mercyhurst Quad next Saturday in Erie, Pa.
