UAA's Drew Robinson named GNAC Player of Week

SPOKANE, Wash. (Dec. 6) – Alaska Anchorage senior Drew Robinson was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week for men’s basketball on Monday, two days after leading the Seawolves to pair of neutral-court victories in Fairbanks.

The 6-2 point guard from Lehi, Utah (Lehi HS/Salt Lake CC) orchestrated a Seawolf offense that shot nearly 60 percent from the floor in wins over Hawaii Pacific (75-53) and two-time Canadian national runner-up British Columbia (71-53) as the Seawolves emerged the only unbeaten team from the Glacier Classic.

Robinson had 14 assists and just two turnovers in the two contests, including 11 without a turnover in Friday’s win against HPU. The performance made him the first Seawolf since Luke Cooper in 2007-08 to dish double-digit assists.

He also contributed to UAA’s 58.8 shooting percentage (57 of 97), making six of seven,
including all five of his attempts in Saturday’s win over UBC.

It is the first career GNAC weekly honor for Robinson and the second for a Seawolf this year (Taylor Rohde, Nov. 7-14).

UAA returns to action Dec. 17 when it opens the AT&T Jamboree against Walla Walla College at 1 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
