NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday the winners of USTFCCCA Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year honors for the 2010 cross country season in Division II as voted by the division's coaches. Mars Hill College's Mike Owens was named the Southeast Region Men's Coach of the Year.
Owens has won the regional award a total of nine times. He has won the honor five times with the Mars Hill men's team and four times on the women's side.
Owens was named the 2010 South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year for a 15th consecutive season. He has also won that honor five times with the women's team.
Mars Hill won the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Tournament Championship for a 14th consecutive season. The team placed third in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and 24th in the 2010 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship.
